Context of Practice session (20.01.12)

In Friday's context of practice session with Jo we began by categories stereotypical students in groups. Here is what the group came up with;

- Bad Money Management
- Lazy
- Drunks
- Sociable
- Tired
- Hungover
- Unhealthy
- Irresponsible
- Promiscuous
- Tax Dodgers

We then had to think of questions which related to these categories...

- Do you spend money without thinking?
- How much sleep do you get on an average night?
- Do you drink excessively, take drugs, waste money or are you promiscuous?
- Do you have a job and how much tax do you pay?

We then went on to turn these questions into questions which would relate to stereotypical people in general.

- Describe your personality in 5 words?
- How much do you care about what you look like on a scale of 1 - 5? (1 being the least)
- What gender are you?
- How does your history affect your now?
- Do you have any amusing jokes?
- Where would you take someone on a date?
- Whats your sexual orientation?
- Whats your favourite pastime?

We each individually then answered these questions and came up with some facts that symbolised our year group as a whole. Here are the statements;

- We care about our appearance
- Participate in active pastimes
- 100% of the group were straight
- Fairly self conscious group of people
- Majority said they were creative
- 18/23 dates are based around food/drink
- Students are both male and female
- There is a wide range of experience
- We care what people think about us
- We are open and honest

The session with Jo was really useful because it showed us how asking the right kinds of questions and doing that little bit more research can really focus your idea's and give you one direction to work with.
