'The politics of Postmodernism' - Linda Hutcheon

Since reading 'The politics of Postmodernism' By Linda Hutcheon I have decided to reflect on elements of her writing within my essay. Here are some notes which I will use as reference points throughout my writing on 'Postmodernism'.

- Hutcheon refers to postmodernism as a phenomenon whose mode is resolutely contradictory as well as unavoidably political.

- Like Jencks, Linda Hutcheon believes that Postmodernism manifests itself in many fields of cultural endeavor; architecture, literature, photography, paint, dance, music and elsewhere.

- She states that 'in general terms it takes the form of self-conscious, self-contradictory, self-underminingstatemnt'.

- Both Jencks and Hutcheon refer to Postmodernism as doubleness, or duplicity.
